Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context

  • Acro I: ages 8-11

  • Acro II: ages 12 and up (or by teacher placement)

A classical form of dance focusing on proper body alignment and fluid movement. Barre, center floor, and across the floor progressions are all used to develop proper ballet technique. Ballet is the foundation upon which most dance forms are based. Here at Dancespace, our amazing instructors make sure everyone gets individual attention while keeping the class collaborative.

  • Ballet II: ages 8-10

  • Ballet III: ages 10-12

  • Ballet IV: ages 12 and up (or by placement of instructor)

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, classical ballet and even hip-hop. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and body through their movement.

  • Contemporary II: ages 8-10

  • Contemporary III: ages 10-12

  • Contemporary IV: ages 12 and up (or by teacher placement)

This popular, energetic form of dance allows dancers to perform with freedom of movement. This class is inspired by today’s latest music and hippest trends in street style dance. Many of our dancers love taking this class, as it gives them the opportunity to learn new movements and express their individual personalities.

  • Beginner Hip Hop: ages 6-8

  • Intermediate Hip Hop: ages 9-12

  • Advanced Hip Hop: ages 12 and up (or by teacher placement)

Jazz is an upbeat and stylized form of dance with its own movement vocabulary, ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles, including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, and Contemporary.

  • Jazz II: ages 8-10

  • Jazz III: ages 10-12

  • Jazz IV: ages 12 and up (or by teacher placement)

Modern dance encourages dancers to use their emotions and moods to design their own steps and routines. Another characteristic of modern dance, in opposition to ballet, is the deliberate use of gravity. This type of dance rejects the classical ballet stance of an upright, erect body, often opting instead for deliberate falls to the floor.

  • Beginner Modern: ages 8-10

  • Intermediate Modern: ages 10-12

  • Advanced Modern: ages 12 and up (or by teacher placement)

Musical Theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical are communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole

  • Ages 10 and up (or by teacher placement)

Tap is a dance in which the rhythm or rhythmical variation is audibly tapped out with the toe or heel by a dancer wearing shoes with special hard soles with taps

  • Beginner Tap: ages 7-9

  • Intermediate Tap: ages 9-11

  • Advanced Tap: ages 12 and up (or by teacher placement)

Pointe technique is a part of classical  ballet technique. Pointe shoes use structural reinforcing to distribute the dancer’s weight load throughout the foot, thus reducing the load on the toes enough to enable the dancer to support all body weight on fully vertical feet. Starting pointe is not just a question of age or physical maturity; readiness depends on strength, technique, attitude, and commitment. When a student is truly ready, the introduction to pointework is gradual and always carefully and knowledgeably supervised.

  • Pre Pointe, Pointe I, and Pointe II are all determined by teacher placement

Led by a dedicated team of instructors, these classes prepare our youngest students for a bright future in the art of dance with a variety of styles (ballet, jazz, tap) taught in a single session.
